Job Description
Surgery Center Administrator
Ambulatory Surgery Center | the Tri-Valley region, CaliforniaThe Opportunity
This is a seat at the leadership table of a well-established ambulatory surgery center in the Tri-Valley region of California. As Administrator, you own the full operational picture — financial performance, clinical quality, physician relationships, regulatory compliance, and workforce — while serving as the connective tissue between the governing board, medical staff, and a national healthcare enterprise that gives this role real institutional backing.
It is a role for someone who wants accountability and gets things done through people, not around them.
The RoleThe Administrator leads day-to-day facility operations across administrative, clinical support, and business functions. Specific responsibilities include:
- Leading operational, staffing, and capital budgeting cycles and monitoring ongoing financial performance
- Serving as liaison between the Governing Board, Medical Staff, facility leadership, and the supporting home office
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory, accreditation, quality, and patient safety standards
- Overseeing staffing, performance management, and workforce planning
- Supporting physician relationships, credentialing, and medical staff coordination
- Managing vendor, service, and physician contracts
- Driving quality improvement, infection control, and patient experience initiatives
- Participating in operational reviews and identifying opportunities for service line growth
- 2–5 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare administration
- Background in ambulatory surgery center leadership, or hospital surgical services leadership with meaningful ASC exposure
- Bachelor's degree minimum; advanced degree a plus
- Demonstrated ability to manage financial performance, lead teams, and navigate regulatory environments
- Comfort operating as both a strategic partner and a hands-on operational leader
- Compensation is competitive and negotiable based on experience
- Relocation assistance available for the right candidate
- Full benefits package
- Organizational support from a nationally recognized surgical care enterprise with resources and career pathways beyond a single facility
The Tri-Valley sits at the eastern edge of the Bay Area — a stretch of rolling foothills, open space preserves, and well-planned communities that draws people who want California access without the density. Mount Diablo anchors the skyline and the trails. Wine country is twenty minutes east. San Francisco and the South Bay are each under an hour. The region has a strong employment base, highly rated schools, and a lifestyle that tends to keep people once they arrive. For healthcare leaders coming from larger metros or more rural markets, the Tri-Valley offers a compelling middle ground: urban resources, suburban pace, and real outdoor texture year-round.
About the OrganizationThis facility is part of a nationally recognized network that partners with physicians to develop and operate ambulatory surgery centers across the United States. The organization is backed by an established enterprise with dedicated operational infrastructure, quality programs, and career development pathways. The culture centers on accountability, physician partnership, and delivering quality care close to home.
